Connection woes
Apr. 9th, 2006 05:11 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
My broadband connection is down (some problem at my ISP's end that they're "working very hard on"), so I'm online via dial-up. Wah! Which means that I'm only zooming through, and now that I've grabbed my email, I'll be dropping back offline again. Am hoping my proper connection will be back soon! Grr.
I should probably use this offline time to finish editing my Life on Mars fic so that's it's finally post-able. But then other people will see it! Oh noes! Lalalala, avoidance! (Yes, I'll pull myself together and get it done in a minute. I'm just having a idiotic fiveyears minutes. Don't mind me.)
And because I've really done sod all today, have a meme:
Swiped from
kabukivice
Which of my icons:
1. is your favorite and why?
2. is your least favorite and why?
3. would you like some context for?
4. have you never noticed I even had before?
5. do you most associate with me?
... and I guess that's all from Post Every Day Week. It was worryingly easy to post random crap every day! I might even keep it up without having the meme as an excuse. Well, maybe. But I think I probably will start posting more frequently again. It's been fun! :-) Especially seeing regular posts from the others on my flist who were doing it too.

Date: 2006-04-10 01:53 pm (UTC)It's not actually the speed that's the issue... it's the fact that I've already paid up front for the broadband, and then I have to pay again for the dial-up connection phone call! The indignity!!!
But I have my broadband back now, so all is well in the world.
And hoorah - Beatles icon! :-)

Date: 2006-04-10 05:26 pm (UTC)Got another Beatles icon for you to see! How slashy is this one!!!!!!

Date: 2006-04-10 06:02 pm (UTC)And oooo :-) I used to have a Beatles Slash website as a hostee on my freaky.nu domain, til the owner got her own domain name and moved it over there.

Oh yeah - avoidance sounds so tempting doesn't it?
*nudges carefully because wants to read fic ;-)*
That meme sounds like fun - here goes:
1. Ohh - that's difficult. I think I'll pick "Not sleeping anymore" - it's eerie and strangely captivating at the same time. Though "Whoo! Yay!", "Sam's arse", "Go to my room!", "Dead is quite serious", "Smiling David", "Emotionally cracked", "Ewww", "Dalek - the internets burns!", "Sheeep" and "Vulcan" are close behind. (I think I might have been ill the day they taught the "choose one" concept at school ...
2. Probably "ARGH!!!1!!" - though it is very effective.
3. Yarn ho!
4. I haven't known you for so long yet, so there are a few. I'll pick "Spaced"
5. The sheep one :-), because that was the one you used when I "met" you (and we discovered that we were both sheep ... fans.

Date: 2006-04-10 02:03 pm (UTC)*g* I did get off my bum (not literally, since I had to be sitting down to ... oh, never mind) and do the editing, and it is now with my beta again. *nibbles fingernails*
I think I might have been ill the day they taught the "choose one" concept at school ...
LOL, me too! This is probably why I have sooooo many icons. I am very fond of "Vulcan"... I think I've had it almost the whole time I've been on LJ! I'm pretty sure it was one of the very first I made.
2. Probably "ARGH!!!1!!" - though it is very effective.
It's a bit freaky, that one, isn't it? That's the point of it, though. *g*
3. Yarn ho!
Ah, OK. That icon is a picture of a small portion of my yarn stash. I relearned to knit a couple of years ago, and I've been addicted ever since. I have more yarn now that I can possibly use in the next ... oh, five years, at least. But still, I buy more because it's preeeeeeeetyyyyy. Hence, I am a complete yarn 'ho.
we discovered that we were both sheep ... fans.
Bwahaha! It's going to be "sheep ... fans" for ever more, isn't it? Hee! *vbg* (Baaaa!)

You know this one:
Doctor, Doctor, I swallowed a sheep, and now I feel so baaaaaaad.

I actually do Harry Potter scarves quite a lot - hand and machine knitted, but I haven't done a Who one yet. I should get on that!

Date: 2006-04-10 07:35 pm (UTC)LOL
That's actually one of the very first icons I ever made. I should brush it up a bit :-D

Date: 2006-04-09 05:50 pm (UTC)2. "Do not adjust your set," because it's so dark I can't tell what's going on in the image.
3. most of them, because we don't really share a fandom anymore. The fannish ones all puzzle me.
4. the "Corset" one (and most of the fannish ones, of course)
5. your "Silly" Drusilla
(no subject)
Date: 2006-04-10 02:09 pm (UTC)Hee, don't be embarrassed! I love it - I should record more of my dorky behaviour so that I have the chance to use it more, actually.
2. "Do not adjust your set," because it's so dark I can't tell what's going on in the image.
Ah, yeah... that's another one where you have to know the show to get the icon, I'm afraid. It's the girl on the test card image, who has come out of the telly and is sitting on top of it in the dark, and freaking Sam (lead character in Life on Mars) out. Erm. Not that that'll mean anything more to you now!
3. ... The fannish ones all puzzle me.
Most of them are Doctor Who, or Life on Mars. Can point you to downloads of LoM if you're interested, but otherwise, I guess I can't give much more context.
Are you still in Buffy fandom? I'm not sure if I am or not! I spose I sort of am, since I still have the websites. But I'm not active in it in any other way.
5. your "Silly" Drusilla
Should I worry? *g*
(no subject)
Date: 2006-04-10 07:29 pm (UTC)No, I'm not active in Buffy fandom anymore. I was writing S/X fic for a while relatively recently, but I lost interest and haven't done anything in ages. I still have some LJ friends from my Buffy fandom years, but they aren't active anymore, either. They all seem to have moved on to other fandoms, especially "Stargate: Atlantis."
Like you, I do still have a website, but I don't update it anymore and have posted an announcement to that effect on the site's main page.
5. your "Silly" Drusilla
Should I worry? *g*
Heh. I think that's just the icon you've used most often when you comment in my journal, so it's the one I'm most familiar with. You have another Drusilla icon that is also very familiar, along with the one of your cat.

Date: 2006-04-10 09:10 pm (UTC)I have actually seen bits of SGA when my brother has been watching it at Mum's house, but since I haven't had a clue what was going on in it, I didn't pay much attention.

Date: 2006-04-10 08:13 am (UTC)1_ I can't choose- you have Hugo and Johnny and LoM and Bilie and Eccleston all over the shop and waaah it is hard. I still love the 'dude ph33r m3' but I think it finally comes down to a knock down drag out fight between Captain Jack shagging anything and going to Gene's room.
2_ Spook cos I have no frelling clue as to what it is. There is nothing wrong with it- it's actually quite moody and flash. Just, ?
3_ The Look North peter/Paul OTP one. What actually is it all about?
4_ The new doctor ones.
5_ Vulcan. I love it and died the first time I saw it, and now that's what I associate with you.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-04-10 02:22 pm (UTC)LOL! Are you on
Bet it's a cracking fic too. I mean, you don't have to, it's not like I can hunt you down, perch on your step and beg, but y'know. Please?
Awww, thank you for your confidence! But I'd wait to judge it til you actually see it. *g* And you will see it: I did the editing, and it's off being betaed again (by Noxy), so hopefully it'll be ready to be released into the wild fairly soon.
(Um. You know, you saying that you can't hunt me down would be more comforting if you didn't know where I live... ;-) Should you turn up on the doorstep, I'll send the mog out to keep you company)
Captain Jack shagging anything and going to Gene's room.
Now read that line again, just the above part of it..... mwahahah!
2_ Spook cos I have no frelling clue as to what it is. There is nothing wrong with it- it's actually quite moody and flash. Just, ?
It's Adam from Spooks. Because he's a Spook. Also, he's kinda moody and flash. Erm. *g*
3_ The Look North peter/Paul OTP one. What actually is it all about?
Ahahahahahahaha!! It's an in-joke of very recent vintage (like, last weekend) between
5_ Vulcan. I love it and died the first time I saw it, and now that's what I associate with you.
Awww :-) I'm terribly fond of that one, too. I think I've had it almost the whole time I've been on LJ, and I shall never let it go. Never, I say!
