Connection woes

My broadband connection is down (some problem at my ISP's end that they're "working very hard on"), so I'm online via dial-up.  Wah!  Which means that I'm only zooming through, and now that I've grabbed my email, I'll be dropping back offline again.  Am hoping my proper connection will be back soon!  Grr.

I should probably use this offline time to finish editing my Life on Mars fic so that's it's finally post-able.  But then other people will see it!  Oh noes!  Lalalala, avoidance!  (Yes, I'll pull myself together and get it done in a minute.  I'm just having a idiotic five years minutes.  Don't mind me.)

It's not actually the speed that's the issue... it's the fact that I've already paid up front for the broadband, and then I have to pay again for the dial-up connection phone call! The indignity!!!
But I have my broadband back now, so all is well in the world.

Heheh, indeed! Not something you want to shout about, in case they take notice. I used to get free digital telly from the company I used to work for... after I left. I never did ask them why, just kept quiet about it!

And oooo :-) I used to have a Beatles Slash website as a hostee on my freaky.nu domain, til the owner got her own domain name and moved it over there.

Ah - I think Paul only became mortal in the 1970's. I am a big fan of Beatles Paul and can't equate him to modern Paul at all.

After all I gave a certain alter ego of mine his birthday (not the year though - he's five years younger!).

LOL, me too! This is probably why I have sooooo many icons. I am very fond of "Vulcan"... I think I've had it almost the whole time I've been on LJ! I'm pretty sure it was one of the very first I made.

Ah, OK. That icon is a picture of a small portion of my yarn stash. I relearned to knit a couple of years ago, and I've been addicted ever since. I have more yarn now that I can possibly use in the next ... oh, five years, at least. But still, I buy more because it's preeeeeeeetyyyyy. Hence, I am a complete yarn 'ho.

Hee, don't be embarrassed! I love it - I should record more of my dorky behaviour so that I have the chance to use it more, actually.

Ah, yeah... that's another one where you have to know the show to get the icon, I'm afraid. It's the girl on the test card image, who has come out of the telly and is sitting on top of it in the dark, and freaking Sam (lead character in Life on Mars) out. Erm. Not that that'll mean anything more to you now!

Most of them are Doctor Who, or Life on Mars. Can point you to downloads of LoM if you're interested, but otherwise, I guess I can't give much more context.

No, I'm not active in Buffy fandom anymore. I was writing S/X fic for a while relatively recently, but I lost interest and haven't done anything in ages. I still have some LJ friends from my Buffy fandom years, but they aren't active anymore, either. They all seem to have moved on to other fandoms, especially "Stargate: Atlantis."

Like you, I do still have a website, but I don't update it anymore and have posted an announcement to that effect on the site's main page.

Goodness, yes, my whole friendlist is in love with Stargate: Atlantis! I'm going to see if I can get hold of it and see what all the enthusiasm is about! I've just got the first disc of SG1 on rental, because I want to watch that series again from the start, but I'm not going to wait til I've done that before I watch Atlantis, or it'd take me years! *g*

Awww, thank you for your confidence! But I'd wait to judge it til you actually see it. *g* And you will see it: I did the editing, and it's off being betaed again (by Noxy), so hopefully it'll be ready to be released into the wild fairly soon.

Ahahahahahahaha!! It's an in-joke of very recent vintage (like, last weekend) between clarey_h and myself. Peter is one of the presenters of Look North, and Paul is the weatherman. And they're IN LOVE!!!! Or, you know, not really. But the way they bicker onscreen, then talk about going out for dinner together. Hee! They're slashtastic. (I miss Look North: South Today just isn't the same!) So we decided there should be OTP icons, and we also found some very funny links, including a joke myspace site (I think it's a joke!!) in Peter's name, where it says that he and Paul like to play find the submarine.... I was going to post an explanation, actually: I should do that.
