soulstar: (Eleven - Timelords get lost too)

I know, I know, I haven't posted here for a miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillion years. I've been mentally stuck trying to decide whether DW or LJ should be my primary journal (or whether I should just crosspost everything). I have been posting on the blog at loopylou.co.uk though. I haven't been crossposting from the blog to DW & LJ, obviously, but there is now a feed account on DW ([syndicated profile] loopylou_feed ) as well as the one on LJ ([livejournal.com profile] loopylou_co_uk ). So just in case you want to read my blogging adventures, which are about things like knitting, spinning, bipolar disorder, and general life ramblings, then... well, there are many ways to do so. Or, I don't know, should I just crosspost directly to this journal after all? I've always felt like I should keep the two separate, but maybe that's a hangover from when I worked in an office? Hmm. Opinions welcome! Heh, if there's even anyone still reading this thing.

What I've been thinking of using this journal* for is more fandom-y stuff. And I'm afraid that means the stuff that I'm watching, so if there are people reading, I give fair warning: I'll quite likely be whiffling on about Sparklytrictly Come Dancing and Holby / Casualty and Merlin and Sherlock (still) and Dr Who and whatever else may catch my fancy. Also, I want to actually write up the book reviews that are in my head. Shall I put them here or on the blog? I don't know. Maybe that's something that works for both. As for which is my main journal between DW and LJ, well, my subscription has run out on DW, and I still have the big flist on LJ, but DW is nicer... I'll decide another time.

At the moment I am doing NaBloPoMo over on my blog, so I don't know if / when I'll be posting here again. But I really really am going to try. I miss being in touch with my flist! Although talking of that, I think I may need to chop it down quite a lot so that I can actually keep up with the reading. Sometimes I wonder how I used to manage. Oh yes, that's right: I signed up for LJ a decade ago. I was young. That explains it all!

* These journals: I'd be crossposting, assuming posting to DW from SeMagic will do that, because posting in the web editor on DW is driving me MAD(der). This is my fourth attempt today, and it's not like it's a problem with the editor itself. I just keep accidentally losing the bleeping thing. Don't ask. Anyway, I need to post from a non-web interface.

You're here! I've missed you! *GLOMPS*

*subscribes to the feed* Awesome, thank you for that!

Hee! I know how hard it is. Whatever you decide, I hope you'll still be crossposting here on DW. I miss having you around! I look forward to more posts in the future, that would be awesome. Since this is my primary hangout, I feel like we're so out of touch! *clings*

We need to try to get chats happening regularly again, don't we?

That would be awesome! Work is crazy right now, so I'm usually too knackered in the evenings to sit at the 'puter, but it all (theoretically) should be much better the week after my b-day. Is there a day in the week that would work best for you? Mondays aren't good for me usually, and Fridays/weekends aren't either.

I hope the SeMagic client will do that automatically, because when I was trying to post on the web yesterday it just went horribly wrong several times!

Huh? That is indeed strange. Did you have the settings correctly set-up for crossposting? Because when I still did it, it worked like a charm. I only had to set it up once, and then DW did everything for me when I posted. I've stopped using Semagic altogether because it doesn't work so well with DW. But! Once we finally get the incredibly awesome redesigned page for posting, things should be really great for posting online.

some of the time (like today, actually) I might directly crosspost from my blog,

I love that! Because then I can easily comment here. ;)

and I was really annoyed when LJ automatically renewed without giving me a heads-up in advance

Ugh, whut? Did you manage to turn off automatic renewal? I'm glad I never even set that up. My paid account on LJ has finally run out, so they're not getting any more money from me. Feels good! *g*

And it doesn't help that so many 'real' people I want to keep in touch with, like Kate and Tony, and friends I know through them, are only really on LJ.

Sigh. That sucks. I've resigned myself to losing touch with some people on LJ, but most of them I didn't know IRL. If it's only a handful of people, you could add a feed to your reading list here? Unless they only post locked entries... I don't think those show up. Anyway, that's how I handle things. So I only go to LJ to read a very few communities. For most comms I've set up feeds on DW, so I don't have to go there a lot anymore.

I LOOOOVE how you can set up filters by tags on your DW reading list. A lot of people in my circle post about fandoms I'm not interested in, so I just set it up so that all posts with those fandom tags are filtered out. Which is so, so awesome! But I think that may be a paid feature. Meep.

Anyway, I don't know if you're around tomorrow, darling, but I should be - I shall try to remember to log onto IM, and maybe we'll see each other there?

Darn, tonight is no good for me. I have to get up ridiculously early tomorrow because we're filming some additional scenes, and I'll be working most of today. But maybe on Tuesday?

Love you, my darling hobband! :D

I am working on something for you, but it won't be done in time, I'm afraid. Possibly not for Christmas, either. D'oh. But it's being made with lots and lots of love!

Eeee! Then I cannot wait and am looking forward to it so much, no matter how long it takes. *SQUISH*

Ugh, chat times. It's kinda hard to decide on a certain day for me right now, but maybe we could try Thursdays? Only I won't be able to chat tomorrow (busy with film editing)

Sorry I had to run off and didn't get back in time! We had to take the last issue of our magazine to the post office. :( And I'm off for more film editing in a little while.

Have you seen it yet? Is it really good? *hopeful*

It's pretty awesome. You should suscribe to dw_news where they post mock-ups of redesigns and stuff and ask for our opinion. I think the last mock-up of the page for posting was a couple of weeks back, but it has drag-and-drop of the things you want on it, and all kinds of awesome stuff.

You know what? I haven't crossposted really because I've been weirdly intimidated into a kind of "oh noes my flist is too big, they won't want to read my whifflings" feeling.

Makes perfect sense to me! I've felt like that too sometimes. But I hope you'll be posting (and crossposting) more again. I've missed having you around here!

I want to cut down on my comms anyway, so I might as well just do that. Again it'd only be the ones with locked posts that I'd need to stay subbed to, wouldn't it?

Yes. That's exactly what I do too.

You *can*? Woah, I have to look into that. Now I've got paid time again for a while, I really should try to take advantage of more than just the icons!!

I didn't make use of it either until recently. This is so much better than setting up reading filters! I just told my default filter what kinds of tags of which people I wanted to read (or not) - no more feeling overwhelmed by too many posts.

Love yoooooou! :D
